March 17, 2009 - 2 miles

I ran two miles at work again today. I finished in 24:05 (first mile was 11:55). It was a struggle. I'm still practicing patience.
And now on to taxes!!! And laundry!!!

March 16, 2009 - 2 miles (plus a rant...oh boy!)

Well, I'm "improving". It hasn't quite been a week yet and I've run again. Another 2 miles (23:51)...although I stopped to stretch a little after the first one. Plus, I needed to talk myself into the second mile. Ugh. I did run outside today, which was nice, but it was such a struggle for me that I've been left feeling out of shape, grumpy, and fat. Of course it doesn't help that I've gained weight and had to be fitted for a bridesmaid dress yesterday. Double ugh. It's so dumb. They take your measurements but only choose a dress size based on your largest part (so fun to hear "largest part" too). Naturally this pretty much guarantees that you'll have to pay for alterations. Triple ugh. The dress is cute though...chocolate brown. Mmmm...sounds good enough to eat! (Hmm...how ever did I gain weight?) Strapless though. Must. Work. On. Arms. *sigh* Bethie and I are planning to run once a week together. Plus, I'm planning on joining the gym at my work starting in April. I'm trying to remind myself that I need to make small goals and not expect overnight changes. Patience. I need to work on patience. In everything.
*double sigh*

Three-year old quote of the day: "I ate the ice (sounds like arse)"

March 11, 2009 - 2 miles (and random thoughts)

It seems to be the re-occuring theme for me....run two miles...wait a week...run two miles...wait another week...
Last night I was motivated but had no accountability. Tonight I chatted online with Beth and there it was, accountability. I told Beth to check my blog because I was going to run after the kids went to bed. And I did (although it was tempting to stay in bed with William and fall asleep like I did last night. He's so cute!). But I had told both kids I was going to say goodnight and go run. Hey, they can be accountability partners too!
I finally finished watching "Hitch" during my last run so I've now moved on to "Raising Helen". After the two miles I walked a quarter mile to cool down.
Tonight was also our Lenten service so we didn't get to homework until later and thus bed time was later as was running. Plus, I putzed around updating our family calendar before running too.
Before church, the kids and I ate at McDonald's. I had the fried fish sandwich and fries. Do you know that McDonald's puts a nutrition label on the box!!!!! Look, I already know that the food is bad for me. Why do I need confirmation staring me in the face?!?!? Oh well. I do love fried fish. Although as far as fast food goes I prefer the Wendy's version over McDonald's. Although Wendy's doesn't come close to Haegan's (sp?) by Beth's house! Mmmmm....now I want more fish.
In other random, non-running news, the check engine light came on again in Roxy (my Pontiac Vibe). We just paid $500 for a new catalytic converter in January! That, and the fact that she burns a quart of oil every two weeks, makes me think Roxy's ready for retirement. Problem is, she's not paid off yet and we just bought a new car in October. Tell me again, why was I so anxious for my own car in high school and college? I really should get going on this whole running thing. I may be running to work!

Monday

March 2, 2009 - 2 miles

I ran another 2 miles tonight, which means that I've doubled my number of workouts that I've been completing the past few weeks!!! Hey, I'm excited.
Motivation has tanked. To add to that, I weighed myself on Sunday. Let's just say, Yikes. I'm so glad that my weight continuously yo-yos and I'm constantly learning to eat healthy over and over and over. My poor kids are doomed. I'm a horrible example of good nutrition.
Okay, okay, no more negative self-talk. I'm happy about the 2 miles tonight. It was more difficult than last night. Probably because it's been a while since I've done two days in a row. My left knee was bothering me a little again. I must get orthotics for my shoes!
This week I'm working on not using lack of motivation as an excuse not to run. I've decided that I will embrace that I am not motivated. I will focus on being disciplined. Running because I've planned to run. I want to lose some weight, more importantly some girth. I will make the committment to go through this pain now so that I won't have to go through it later (and more pounds/inches later).
Ultimately, I want to get back to running for me.

Sunday

March 1, 2009 - 2 miles

I finally stopped making excuses and ran two miles tonight. It felt good. My knee started bothering me in the last quarter mile, but I was happy with the two miles. I feel like I'm doing okay. As long as I stopped moping about missed runs, I am enjoying it.
I'm working on the "negotiations" with the hubby about another marathon this year. My training schedule gets hard for him with the two kids. He said it's up to me and he'll support me, but he wanted me to know that last marathon training was hard. I appreciate his honesty. So I am looking at how to change my running time to make it fit in with our family life.

Thursday

February 19, 2009 - 2 miles

I am so frustrated with my inability to keep a strict running schedule! I got up early to run 2 miles (24:00) since I fell asleep last night (and haven't run in a week!).
Still looking into possible marathons. Maybe the Lewis & Clark one on September 13th? It's just outside of St. Louis. We'll see...Right now I can't even make the time to run. =(
