Happy July!!! Can you even believe it? It's craziness, I tell you. Craziness.
July running is off to a kickin' start with 7 miles. This evening, Bethie hosted with a planned meal of tortellini. That is, until her cat sat in the tortellini and started eating. It might have been salvageable if he had only eaten some of it. But noooo, that cat had to sit in it as well. LOL! So Beth called me stating she was making waffles BYOS (bring your own syrup). Although rainbow colored three cheese tortellini (sans cat rear end) would have been great, the waffles were more than an adequate substitution. Especially since they were blueberry. And Mickey Mouse!!!
After waffles, it was on to our 7 miles. Let me just say that 50 - 60 degrees without humidity is a much more desirable scenario for running than 93 degrees and 100% humidity. So much better! I did have some mental blocks to work through based on tiredness from only about 4 hours of sleep last night. But my legs felt good and the run in general was enjoyable and, compared to last week, much more effortless. We decided to run 3.5 miles out then 3.5 miles back. We finished the first 3.5 miles right on a 12-minute pace. The run back, however, we had a negative split thanks to the slight downhill for about a mile. It made the uphill that we had just finished worth it. =) Overall, we finished in 1:21.50 (~2 minutes under pace). Naturally we celebrated like any normal runner would celebrate...with cake!
